If you’ve watched HGTV popular show “Decorating Cents” you should have a good idea of the home redesign concept. Home redesign is an affordable method of transforming any room in your home or apartment by rearranging things differently. There are two major benefits to interior redesigning- the results are instant, and the cost is mediocre compared to traditional interior decorating. It may only take a few hours to give your home a fresh new look, and by “shopping” your own home for items, you avoid the huge cost of purchasing new furniture and/or accessories.

There are several reasons why you may decide to redesign a room in your home.  Here are a few:

  •  You want to create a more inviting, and functional living space.
  •  You have a limited budget but you want to initiate change in your home or office
  •  There’s something missing in your room(s) but you can’t figure it out
  •  Have an empty room(s) and you don’t have a clue on how to bring in items and arrange     things harmoniously
  •  Have a room that isn’t being used and you can’t figure out why it’s even furnished
  •  Have rooms that don’t function, appear, or feel right

Your home is a huge part of your life. Therefore, an inviting, balanced and harmonious home appearance can improve how you feel every day. Keep in mind, not every home redesign is a major project.  Sometimes the simple things like removing excessive pictures off a refrigerator can make a huge impact on a room appearance.  Rethinking a room or how you function within a room can help you come up with ideas on how to change the room.

There are several simple ways to redesign a room in your home. The best way to give a room a quick make-over is by decluttering.  Clutter-free spaces can create the impression of a bigger space.  If you have an office space, it can help clear your mind so you can work more efficiently. Therefore, put some of the extra furniture and excessive items you have in a room in your garage or storage space. The rule of thumb I use to decide if it’s something I need to keep is whether or not I have used the item within a year. If it hasn’t been used within a year, then I probably won’t use it, and therefore it can be stored in the garage.

Adding color to dull walls can make a huge impact on a room. If you do not wish to paint an entire room, I always recommend creating an accent wall.  You can go for a bold new color you always wanted to try or you can think of what sites or sounds make you feel comfortable. For example, if the sounds of the ocean brushing up on the shore make you feel at peace, then consider painting your walls or an accent wall a light color of seaside sand like Tan, beige, or ivory, to remind you of the beach.

Clean up your kitchen cabinets.  If you want to add more life to dull cabinets give them life again by giving them a fresh coat of paint or stain, or simply remove the doors for a truly European-style kitchen. If your cabinetry is simply unclean, use a brush and a wood cleaner to get those dirty fingerprints out.

If you would like to create virtual space to a small room you can add a large mirror. The strategic alignment of a mirror can add a vast amount of natural light in your home. If possible, hang a large mirror in the living room directly where the sun beams in. The bouncing light will help to create the appearance of a larger room. In addition, it can bring more warmth and life to a room.

Give your home a make-over without the huge cost by redesigning your home. If you have trouble thinking of ideas on your own, the normal range for a consultation by a home redesigner also known as an interior redesigner is $100-$150. Also, if you are trying to sell your home, most home redesigners are home stagers. They can help you rearrange your home interior so that it appeals to the majority to sell quicker, as well as, sells at its optimum price.

Home Redesign- redesign without spending a dime!

Posted By: Verornica Gaines  //  Category: Uncategorized

Redesigning a room in your home can give you the change you’ve been
yearning for. Are you bored at looking at the same design in the
room(s) in your home? Has any of the rooms looked exactly the same for
more than three years? Do you have a room in your home that isn’t being
used by the family? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then
you should give your room a makeover using home redesigning techniques.

Home redesigning
is not about any demolition or creation of blueprint to remodel a room
in your home. Basically the concept consists of re-arranging your
existing furniture, artwork and accessories to give a room in your home
a new look and character. Home redesign also known as interior
redesign, is the new trend in interior decorating. The best thing is,
the redesign project is usually completed in one day! By applying a few
redesign techniques, you can makeover a room in your home without
spending any money!

The first step is to find the dramatic
element that draws your immediate attention. This is usually called a
focal point. It may be a fireplace, book case, window with a beautiful
view, interesting artwork piece, or a beautifully decorated bed. If you
have a fireplace then usually it is the focal point. Make sure you
choose one focal point to arrange your furniture and lighting around.
The next step in your room redesign is the placement of the furniture.

The
objective of the furniture arrangement is to compliment the focal
point. Place your largest furniture pieces in the room first. Your
seating in the room like sofa, love-seat, and chairs should be pulled
away from walls so that you create an intimate conversational area. In
addition, having the furniture away from the walls will create
flexibility and functionality. You can also use a sofa to divide up
space in a room. Allow 14″ to 18″ between a coffee table and the front
of the sofa. If you watch TV in the room, the distance between the
television and the seating should be three times the size of the
screen. For instance if you have a 32” tv, your seating should be 96”
away. After the furniture is placed, you should have traffic lanes of
at least 2 feet.

Once the furniture is positioned, bring in your
rugs, end tables and lighting. If you notice any of these items don’t
compliment your furniture, simply remove it and/or look around the rest
of your home for things to add. Check each room, closet, or even garage
to see if there is anything you can use for the room you’re making
over. You might find something you never thought about adding from
another room. This is what makes home redesigning fantastic! You don’t
buy anything new, you just use what you already own.

The last step
to your room makeover is adding artwork and accessories. These items
should help pull things together, as well as, add character and style
to the room. Find pieces around your house you really like that match
your color scheme for the new room. Bring in photos and artwork from
other rooms. Remove items you thought about getting rid of, and bring
in all new accessories. When trying to decide whether you should add an
item to the new room, ask yourself these questions- Do I love it? and
does it make me happy and evoke a positive memory? You want the
redesign to bring back life and excitement to the room. Accessories
look good in odd numbers such as three and five. Odd numbers happens to
appeal more to the eye. Small accessories look better in a group, but
make sure not to bring in too many because it will create clutter. If
you can’t find enough accessories, you can make simple accessories with
empty bottles and vases filled with colored water, rocks, or sand.

Home
redesign provides instant results! Now that you have the basic steps,
go make-over each room in your home one day at a time. Don’t allow your
rooms in your home to become stagnate and boring. Change things up to
make them vibrant again! That’s the idea of home redesign,
re-arranging thing differently and redecorating what you already poses.
Most importantly, the way your furniture is arranged influences the
mood in a room, therefore spruce them up with the art of home redesign.

Redesign your home with what you own!

Interior redesign and home staging are two new growing trends in the
interior design and decorate fields. These two trends are emerging quickly
because of the affordability and the instant results. The two are very similar
in some ways, but the general approach and preferred outcome may vary. Interior
redesign intention is to produce an eye-catching interior as you would likely
see in a “Better Homes & Garden” magazine for a portion of the expense.

Home redesigners keep your costs down by using the furniture or accessories
you have accumulated over the years. There isn’t a need to purchase entire new
furniture if you desire to change the appearance of room(s) in your home.
Interior redesigners work with what you already own, but deliver results that
would remind you of a home out of a magazine.

However, it’s not just about angling things the desired way or having the
right furniture and accessories. A professional redesigner will give you advice
and apply techniques that will create continuity, functionality and beauty to a
room; there should be seamless transition between rooms, furnishing and accessories.
In addition, they can possibly save you money by allocating resources wisely,
eliminating decorating mistakes, and increasing creative thinking about your
project.

Home staging is another trendy designing technique that, similarly, tries to
use many of the existing items found within the home to redecorate. The dissimilarity
between home redesign and home staging is that home stager’s main objective is
to get the house sold at its optimal values in the shortest time. This normally
entails decorating a house that will appeal to the common audience. Home staging
seeks to appeal to the majority, while interior redesign keeps only an
individual or family in mind.

You might get disappointed every time you look at one or several rooms in
your home. Perhaps you’re not sure how to bring things together to get the look
you want. Where should you hang a picture? How should you angle artwork? Where
should you position the couch and coffee table? It can be discouraging trying
to come-up with ways to decorate using your own furnishing, since that is all
you have to work within your budget. You may ask yourself how a different setup
can really make a difference to a room. Well, home stagers and interior redesigners
can assist you with getting that magazine look, with what you already own.
